Complete Hydraulic System Upgrade - Jaguar XKR/XK8
There are two options for placing your order:
1. (Most affordable) You send in your malfunctioning Jaguar Hydraulic System, and Top Hydraulics rebuilds it.
- The rebuild includes electric motor replacement or rewinding if necessary, service of hydraulic cylinders, valves, and upgrade of internal seals in the cylinders and pump to eliminate current or future pressure loss or internal bypass. Three years warranty.
OR
2. (Fastest) Expedited Core Exchange Option where Top Hydraulics ships parts from our inventory first
($1800 plus a $600 Refundable Core Charge).
- Option 2 means that you get a rebuilt & upgraded pump from Top Hydraulics' inventory first, then you ship back your original part for credit of your $600 core refund.Top Hydraulics ships the pump filled with fluid for plug-and-play installation. You get a pump that has been rebuilt to outlast and outperform OEM replacements.
We currently need several days' lead time for the core exchange option
Note: Most model years '00 and all '01-'06 have a "clip-on" fitting at the bottom of the right main lift cylinder, as opposed to a "swivel" fitting with a hex nut. Select your model year before adding to the cart. Some model years '00 still have the original swivel/compression fitting if manufactured in 1999.
Send in your cylinders and hydraulic pump first for rebuild service, unless you have chosen the core exchange option. We highly recommend replacing all hoses at the same time, once you see the first deterioration on your original hoses, and having all cylinders upgraded once you find the first cylinder leaking. You will save a lot of trouble and additional labor if you upgrade the full set of cylinders as a preventive measure before you have any hydraulic fluid leaking into your beautiful car.
There will be no pressure reducer needed with these hoses or with our far superior cylinder seals!
Top Hydraulics replaces the OEM hose material on your complete convertible top hose assembly with far superior material. We are certain that we are supplying the best hoses for this application on the market, with the hose material made in Europe to our exacting specifications. The OEM hoses are rated at an operating pressure of 3,000 psi; Top Hydraulics manufactures these hoses with a conservatively rated burst pressure rating of 30,000 psi. The Jaguar system pressure peaks between 1,500 and 1,600 psi.
The outer diameter (OD) of the two front hoses is smaller than that of the OEM hoses, and much smaller than that of brake hoses. (Some small shops try to manufacture convertible top lines out of brake hoses with braided stainless jackets). The smaller OD makes the installation easier, while not posing any compromise in performance. The lines are clearly labeled on each end (telling you where they connect to), and they come with new o-rings. The hose material is sourced in Germany, the hoses are assembled in the US, and these hoses will not crumble apart like your original ones.
The hydraulic system upgrade for your 2000+ Jaguar XKR/XK8 (excluding pump) includes rebuild Service for the set of 3 Hydraulic Cylinders/Rams, Hydraulic Pump Unit and a Full Set of 6 Replacement Hydraulic Lines/Hoses.
In case you don't recall how the three wires are attached to the right main lift cylinder: The yellow/black wire goes on the top switch, the black/red wires goes on the bottom switch and the black wire goes on the bottom ground connection on the cylinder housing.

On the cylinder rebuilds, we add a stainless steel cap that accomodates larger, better seals to make these cylinders better than new.
Model year 1996-2006 Jaguar XK8/XKR convertibles have three cylinders in the soft top lifting and latching system:
Two Top Lift Cylinders with possible part numbers HJA8254CC (shown in photo), HJA8255CB (shown in photo), HJB8254AA, HJB8255AA
One Lock/Latch Cylinder p/n HJD8243AA
Hydraulic Lines P/N's : HJB8252AA, HJB8253AA, HJB8256AB, HJC8252AA
(HJB 825 2AA, HJB 825 3AA, HJB 825 6AB, HJC 825 2AA)
Pump rebuild and upgrade service is available separately for all '96-'06 hydraulic pumps.
* Rebuildable condition means that only the seals are bad on the cylinder cores. Core refund may be reduced if there are scratches or rust on the chromed cylinder shafts that we cannot polish out, or if there is other serious damage to the cylinder housing. The vast majority of Jaguar cylinders arrive at Top Hydraulics in fully rebuildable condition without us having to replace housings, shafts, or brass switch posts on the right main lift cylinder.
** We understand that accidents can happen, which push out your return shipment date. If you expect to run late on your core return, please send us a note with a reasonable, updated core return date. In most cases, this will be perfectly acceptable. Please keep in mind that we have limited stock, and that a speedy core return helps us serve more customers.

For Customs clearance, you must declare a value on the package you are sending us. Please note: parcels with a declared value under US$750 enter the US without incurring taxes, duties or clearance fees. Considering that you are sending us broken parts for repair, it is most reasonable to declare a value under US$750. You can insure your parcel only up to the amount that has been declared as the value for customs, so your best insurance is good packaging. It is extremely rare that parts get lost on the way to us.
Please be sure to drain or cycle all fluid out of your parts, then wrap them in plastic, so that the parcel does not get soaked in oil. It is generally a good practice to double box pumps or sets of cylinders because heavy parcels take quite a beating in international transit unless you are using a premium carrier such as FedEx. Clearly, you don't want to just stick a part into a cardboard envelope without any further protection or buffering. Buffer your parcel well inside so that parts don't rattle around or the parcel gets crushed from others on top of it. Ideally, tape all around all surfaces of the parcel, which generally provides excellent protection against losing components that are trying to escape through small holes in the cardboard.
We use FedEx International Priority for almost all outbound international shipments, as they tend to offer the fastest and most secure service. Due to our shipping volumes, our rates for return shipping your parts via FedEx International Priority are typically equal to or cheaper than Postal Service. We cannot offer shipping labels for your shipment from you to us - you will have to shop around for the best option to ship your parts to us.
In the rare event that you feel you have to declare a value over US$750 on your parcel shipping to us, please understand that we will need to be reimbursed for any importation fees or duties incurred. You agree to this by accepting our terms and conditions when you place your order. On high value parcels, we are typically charged an Entry Prep Fee (currently about $25) plus 2.5% tax on the declared value of the package, there are oftentimes delays in customs, and it can take a while for us to receive the actual customs invoice.
Depending on the parts you are sending us, your customs declaration might say "hydraulic cylinder for repair" or "hydraulic pump" for repair. Please note that DHL does not like to carry hydraulic parts or used car parts in some countries. If your carrier asks for the "harmonized code or tariff" of the parts you are shipping, those are 841221 for linear actuators (cylinders) and 841360 for pumps.
At Top Hydraulics, we pride ourselves on providing new and remanufactured parts with unmatched quality and longevity.
It is very rare that our parts fail. Obviously, we are only human and we could have made a mistake or one of our components might indeed have had a hidden defect. Please contact us first when you suspect that you have a warranty case, so that we can try to help right away. It could be that the failure you are experiencing is caused by a different component or that the installation was not quite proper, so we like to be in touch first to go over the situation with you.
Unless stated otherwise, there is a 3 year warranty on all new and remanufactured parts provided by Top Hydraulics. This warranty is transferable. All parts manufactured or rebuilt by Top Hydraulics have unique markings, so there is no additional paperwork needed to transfer a warranty. The warranty does not cover labor, direct or consequential damages. The warranty is void when the parts have been abused or have been installed incorrectly, or when brake fluid or stop-leak additives have contaminated your hydraulic system..
You will have to send your failed part(s) back to Top Hydraulics for a warranty evaluation. In the extremely rare case of failure on rebuilds or new parts shipped or provided by Top Hydraulics, Top Hydraulics' warranty covers only parts and is limited to rebuilding the products previously shipped by Top Hydraulics, or replacing them, or refunding the rebuild fee at Top Hydraulics' discretion. If the failure was our fault, then we will refund reasonable shipping costs, as well.
